| May. 30th, 2006 10:03 am Captain, Leader, Champion~My Hero As the Stanley Cup finals are just a few short day away I cant help but think of two things, my two favorite teams, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the New York Rangers. Both have won Stanley Cups. There is no feeling in the world to see your team win the cup and especially at home. June 14, 1994 and June 7, 2004 will be two dates that I will never forget. But as I sit and watch another team play, my memories turn sad. You ask why? Well I miss the greatest hockey player in my lifetime, Mark Messier. OLN has been showing his retirement night at MSG. Every time I watch it I am crying and so is Mark. I cannot put in words what this man means to me. To me he is the ultimate sports hero. Messier was fierce, tough competitor whose intense leadership in the locker room was as important as the goals he scored on the ice. He holds the distinction of being the only man ever to captain two different teams to Stanley Cup championships, winning six championships in total.
